Our story
We were built because a data center operator went shopping and came back empty.
TSO Link was founded in 2023 by T.Loop and E-Matic, to build a flexibility partner fit for a data center because there wasn't one.
The problem we exist for
Two shortages, one power system.
Grid capacity has become the limit on electrification. In market after market, projects wait years for a connection, and data centers account for a large share of new applications. In practice, electrification and AI are competing for the same scarce thing: room in the grid.
The choice is not between data centers and everything else that has to be electrified. Both are needed: computing capacity is as much a foundation for competitiveness as power and transport are. The problem is fitting both into the same system.
At the same time the system has become harder to keep stable. Wind and solar have replaced power stations whose sheer physical mass used to absorb disturbances on its own. That steadying effect now has to come from resources that can react within seconds, which is what the fast reserves we operate today provide.
Both shortages have the same shape: the system needs something it cannot build fast enough. And in both cases much of the answer is already installed, sitting in buildings, doing one job and capable of two.
How it started
A procurement that failed.
T.Loop designs and operates data centers built from the outset around heat recovery and grid services. When it went looking for a flexibility partner for its own sites, everything on offer wanted access to the computing load, or a route into the systems that run the facility, or offered a market connection without the guarantees a critical site has to keep.
E-Matic builds control and monitoring systems for buildings and for data center plant, including its own hardware and software.
In 2023 the two founded TSO Link to build the thing they had not been able to buy. The constraint came first and the product second, which is why the platform is designed around what a data center cannot give up rather than around what a market would like to have.
What building it taught us
Getting approved is harder than getting it working
Meeting the system operator's technical requirements took considerably longer than building the technology did. From outside it looks like paperwork. It is not: it is where a flexibility product is actually made.
This is a partnership, not an installation
Far more operations sit behind a live site than the hardware suggests. An integrator who installs and leaves has delivered a connection, not a revenue stream. That is why we operate what we connect, for as long as the assets are in service.
What we are for
A power system where every connection works twice.
Every grid connection was built for one purpose. Most could serve a second, supporting the network they draw on, without giving up the first.
Make data centers a grid resource, using the infrastructure that keeps them running.
Data centers are where the opportunity is largest and the constraint sharpest, so that is where we start. Using the infrastructure that keeps them running is the discipline: we do not build capacity whose only purpose is to serve the grid, and we do not ask a site for anything it needs for itself.
